 When pavements fail in this country, more often than not engineers with our transportation departments are faced with a dilemma: Do we fix this road? Or do we just patch it up for a while?
These decisions are often completely guided by currently available funding and the predicted available funding for repair needs in the future. The job of the transportation engineer is as much a balancing act as it is designing and building our nation’s roads and bridges. So when faced with the decision to maintain, re- pair or reconstruct, one that should be guided by the needs of that particular road, transportation engineers instead look to their balance sheets to help determine what treatment the road will receive.

 Mt. Carmel Stabilization Group has been mentioned by ARRA, Asphalt Recycling & Reclaiming Association in a recent article. ARRA is a world renowned organization. At a meeting of project principals last November, Geneva Construction mentioned that the Mt. Carmel Stabilization
Group, Mt. Carmel, Il., could be hired to perform lime stabili-
zation. The Illinois Department of Transportation advised the
group that lime modification is certainly a viable alternative

 Recently the site Site K Construction Zone featured Mt. Carmel Stabilization Group in their Daily Dirt news section. In order to counter the problems that soil conditions and weather pose, Mt. Carmel Stabilization Group Inc., of Mt. Carmel, IL is using Lime Kiln Dust (LKD) to dry and modify massive stockpiles of cut that can later be used as fill for the site. |
