In Soil Stabilization applications the preliminary engineering work and mix designs are done by a qualified testing laboratory to determine the appropriate chemical and application rate to achieve the long term performance required to take advantage of the stabilized soil layer in pavement or building pad design.
Depending on soil conditions, the engineer may specify a variety of chemicals including Portland Cement, Quicklime and Lime Kiln Dust, among others. On Soil Stabilization projects, Mt. Carmel will follow the specifications provided by the engineer or governing agency so that the design criteria matches up with the finished product in the field. Many transportation departments, municipalities, commercial developers and airport agencies are taking advantage of the long term performance and cost effectiveness of Soil Stabilization. True Soil Stabilization typically results in a reduction in thickness of other, more expensive structural layers such as aggregate, asphalt or concrete. |
